Our mission and values

Ready, respect, resilience

Three values run through everything at Bishopton: ready, respect and resilience. They are simple on purpose, so that every pupil, parent and member of staff knows what we expect and what we are working towards.

Ready

Arriving on time, in uniform, with your phone handed in and ready to learn. If something makes that hard, from a taxi that has not turned up to a jumper that no longer fits, tell us and we will help.

Respect

Treating everyone in school fairly and kindly, whatever their background, beliefs or differences. It is why every report of bullying is taken seriously here.

Resilience

Keeping going when things are hard, and learning to recover when they go wrong. We teach it on purpose, in PSHE, in tutor time and in how staff respond on a bad day.

Our mission

Our mission is to give every pupil a safe, stable place to learn, with good teaching and a curriculum that fits them.

We are a caring and inclusive school. We want Bishopton to be a place pupils are happy to be part of, where they feel valued, raise their expectations of themselves and build the confidence to move on well, whether that is back to mainstream school or on to further education, training or work.

We look after pupils’ emotional wellbeing as well as their learning, and we work with other professionals and agencies to meet the needs of each pupil and their family.

  • Provide a safe and stable place where positive relationships can grow
  • Assess each pupil’s needs and build on what they already know
  • Teach a personalised curriculum that develops learning, social and employability skills
  • Offer nationally recognised qualifications, and keep building literacy and numeracy
  • Help pupils build their self-confidence and resilience
  • Show pupils what acceptable and appropriate behaviour looks like, by modelling it
  • Help pupils adapt their behaviour and reactions so they can get on with others
  • Support pupils and their families towards better futures, working with schools and other partners
  • Return pupils to mainstream school, or move them on to further education, training or employment, and secure specialist provision where it is needed
  • Champion our pupils, so they get the services and support they are entitled to
