We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or a screen magnifier.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • some of our documents are Word or PowerPoint files, and some older PDFs may not work well with screen readers
  • the picture links in the news lists on the home page and news page have no text description
  • some older news posts have images with no text description
  • the drop-down sections on some pages use code that screen readers may not announce correctly
  • the highlighted menu link on the news page does not have enough colour contrast

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Atomix Educational Trust is committed to making this website accessible, in line with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • The picture links in the news lists on the home page and the news page have no text alternative, so a screen reader cannot tell users where they lead. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.1.1 (non-text content) and 2.4.4 (link purpose, in context).
  • Some images in older news posts have no text alternative. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
  • The drop-down sections (accordions) on pages such as Policies and forms and Safeguarding use an ARIA attribute that is not allowed for their role. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role, value).
  • The highlighted current page link in the main menu on the news page does not have enough colour contrast. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3 (contrast, minimum).
  • Some documents, including the careers programme, careers calendar and PE long-term plans, are Word or PowerPoint files. Some older PDFs are not tagged for screen readers. These may fail WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.3.1 (info and relationships) and 4.1.2 (name, role, value).

Disproportionate burden

We are not claiming that fixing any of these issues would be a disproportionate burden.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

This website is moving to a new platform run by Atomix Educational Trust. We plan to fix the issues above as part of that move, and to replace Word and PowerPoint files with web pages or accessible PDFs.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 19 October 2026. It was last reviewed on 19 October 2026.

This website was last tested on 19 October 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. Atomix Educational Trust tested ten key pages, including the home, contact, curriculum, policies, safeguarding, SEND and news pages, with an automated checker (axe-core). We also checked every page for images with no text alternative and for links to Word and PowerPoint files.
