Two weeks into the new term, Bishopston PRU has already begun to find its rhythm again, with learning resuming and routines steadily being re-established. Despite the challenges that often accompany January – from colder weather to post-holiday blues – the Bishopston community has shown resilience, positivity and determination, with staff working hard to support pupils and maintain a sense of stability and momentum.

Staff have gone above and beyond to create a welcoming and motivating environment, helping pupils’ transition back into school life after the Christmas break. Through patience, consistency and strong relationships, the team continues to support engagement, wellbeing and progress, even when the days feel long and the weather less inviting.

A real highlight of the week continues to be Golden Time Friday afternoons, which remain a much-loved feature of life at Bishopston. These sessions provide pupils with valuable insight into vocational pathways while celebrating effort, progress and positive choices throughout the week.

Hair and Beauty continues to be a firm favourite, offering pupils a hands-on introduction to an industry many are passionate about, while building confidence, practical skills and teamwork. Close behind in popularity is the ever-anticipated Bishy Bake Off, where pupils and staff go head-to-head in a friendly and fun challenge to create the best bake from a surprise brief revealed on the day. The atmosphere is always one of laughter, creativity and collaboration, reinforcing positive relationships and a strong sense of community.

As the term progresses, Bishopston PRU remains committed to providing meaningful learning experiences, engaging vocational opportunities and a nurturing environment where pupils can feel supported and successful. The positive start to 2026 reflects the dedication of staff and the resilience of pupils, and there is much to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
