Students in Years 8 and 9 enjoyed a festive cultural experience last week with a trip to The Forum Theatre in Billingham to watch the musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol. The visit was designed to enrich their current English scheme of work, allowing students to see Dickens’ classic brought to life on stage.

The performance offered a vivid and engaging interpretation of the text, helping pupils deepen their understanding of key characters, themes and moments from the story. From Scrooge’s transformation to the visitations of the iconic three spirits, students were able to make meaningful connections between their classroom learning and a live theatrical experience.

For many, it was their first time watching a professional theatre production and students responded enthusiastically. The trip not only supported learning in English, but also helped spark creativity, curiosity and a love of literature—just in time for the festive season.
