Students and staff at the school came together last week to mark Anti-Bullying Week, embracing a packed schedule of activities aimed at promoting kindness, inclusion and mutual respect. The annual campaign offered the whole community a valuable moment to reflect on the importance of positive relationships and the shared responsibility of ensuring every young person feels safe, valued and supported.

Colourful Celebration on Odd Socks Day

One of the standout moments of the week was Odd Socks Day, held on Wednesday 12th. Classrooms and corridors were brightened by an array of bold, vibrant and wonderfully mismatched socks as students and staff embraced the opportunity to celebrate individuality. The message behind the fun was simple but powerful: it’s okay to be different, and our differences deserve to be recognised and celebrated.

Posters and Thought-Provoking Tutorials Drive Awareness

Throughout the week, classrooms featured eye-catching Anti-Bullying posters, serving as a constant reminder of the school’s commitment to fostering a safe and respectful environment. Alongside these visual displays, students took part in a series of daily tutorial activities designed to deepen their understanding of bullying, encourage empathy and spark meaningful discussion about the importance of speaking up.

Kindness Tree Blossoms With Positivity

A particularly uplifting highlight was the school’s Kindness Tree, introduced by the PHSE lead. Students and staff were invited to write messages of encouragement, appreciation and kindness on decorative paper leaves before adding them to the growing display. By the end of the week, the tree had transformed into a vibrant symbol of unity and compassion, capturing the heart of the campaign.

Powerful Message Delivered in Friday Assembly

The week concluded with a special assembly led by Laura Hall, the school’s Anti-Bullying Champion. Addressing the full student body, Laura explored the different forms bullying can take, the emotional impact it can have, and—crucially—the support available to anyone who needs it. Her message was described as engaging, informative and strongly resonant with students. As the school reflected on its Anti-Bullying Week efforts, staff praised students for their enthusiasm and maturity. The week not only strengthened the sense of community but also reinforced the school’s ongoing commitment to creating a positive, inclusive environment where every learner can thrive.
